Jesus calms storm

 Hello! 


This week we are focusing on Jesus calming the storm.

Have you ever been scared? 

What are you scared of? Spiders / snakes etc 


This story is about when Jesus’ friends (the disciples) were scared.  


Action story: 


Teach the actions 

Wind - arms and whoosh noise 

Waves - clap clap 

Close fist - all noise stops

Jesus and his disciples had been traveling all around the countryside and Jesus had been teaching and performing many miracles. 


When evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, "Let's cross over to the other side of the lake." 


So they climbed into a boat and set sail to the other side of the Sea of Galilee. 


Jesus was very tired and while they were travelling he fell asleep.


Suddenly,

The wind started to blow (wind sound - stop) 

And the waves began to crash (clap clap stop) 


Then the wind got stronger (wind sound - stop) 

Then the waves got bigger (clap clap stop) 


The boat began to fill with water. 


The disciples were scared - show me your scared face? 


The disciples shouted. "Jesus Jesus"

(Shout “Jesus Jesus” 


When Jesus woke up he spoke to the winds and the waves. 


He shouted “Silence! Be still!" 

(Get the kids to shout it) 


Suddenly, the wind (makes the noise) stopped

And the waves (clap clap) stopped. 


Everything was calm. 


Jesus  turned to the disciples and said, "Why were you afraid?“ 


They didn’t need to be afraid because Jesus was with them. 

Learning: 


The disciples were really scared. 

Did they need to be scared? 

No because Jesus was with them 


God is always with us  too. 

If we are ever scared we can pray to God.  

He is always with us. 


Pray: 

Feel free to use your own words but example. 


Dear God 

Help us to remember that you are always with us.   God give us peace when we are scared.  

Thank you that you love us always.
