March 12 Jesus is Life

Talk time :  We are going to play a game to see how clever you all are.   Im going to say the name of an animal and I want you to tell me what the baby animal is called.  ( If I can find a book of baby animals Ill bring it)

What do you call a baby dog?  Cat ?  Horse  Cow, Sheep, Duck  Goat ( getting harder now ) Lion  Pig  Deer ( fawn)  Swan ( cygnet)

This is the time of year when lots of animals are having babies.  Has anyone seen any lambs out in the fields?  I have.  They are so cute arent they?  This is also the time when the leaves are going to start growing on the trees.  All winter the trees have been asleep.  Most of them dont have any leaves on them but in the spring time the leaves start to grow and the trees start to look green.  Not many flowers grow in the winter time but in the spring the weather is warmer, the sun starts to shine more and things like flowers can grow.  Spring is a time when we think about new life.  Lots of things are born and lots of things are growing.   Lets pray and thank Jesus for all the wonderful things we can see in our world which are being born and starting to grow.    PRAY

Lesson;

Hands up if you were once a baby.   Yes, we were all babies.  Even I was a baby once, a very long time ago.   But you arent a baby any more are you?  Why?    Because you have grown.   Who makes you grow?    God does.   God makes everything grow.  He makes the plants and flowers grow, He makes lambs grow into sheep, ducklings grow into ducks, lion cubs grow into lions and he made baby you grow into grown up you!   Every single thing that we can see in the world that is growing is doing that because God makes things grow.

Can you guess what was the most important thing God has ever grown?

Jesus!

Do you remember that God put a teeny tiny baby Jesus into Marys tummy and he grew into a baby.  He was born just like you were and then he grew into a boy, and then a big boy and then a man.  Jesus came to show us what God is like - so because God loves to grow things Jesus does too.   Do you remember how Jesus took a few bits of bread and two fish and He grew them into enough food to feed lots and lots of people?  The Bible tells us about lots of times when Jesus made people who were very poorly better -  like when there was a man who had a hand that didnt work.  He couldnt move his fingers at all.  But when Jesus spoke to that man and told his hand to be better it was!!  Jesus made the man grow a hand that worked.  There were people who couldnt see and Jesus spoke to them and made seeing eyes grow.   There were people who couldnt hear, Jesus spoke to them and hearing ears grew.   There were people who couldnt walk and Jesus made walking legs grow.   Jesus loves growing things.   He is growing you right now!   Isnt that amazing?

Lets watch how God grows butterflies

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsKaRwSref0&t=4s  (very short film clip)

Did you see how the egg becomes a caterpillar and then the caterpillar becomes a butterfly.   As it grows it changes from one thing into another.  That is what Jesus says He can do when He grows us.  We start off as babies and we dont really know Jesus, but as we grow we get to know Him.  When we get bigger we ask Him into our hearts and just like the caterpillar, when we have Jesus in our hearts He changes us inside and we have a whole new life.  Jesus calls it being born again.

Lets sing and thank God and Jesus for making everything grow and giving everything life

( It has to be If I Were A Butterfly!!)
