The Way 12th Feb

 Talking time :  What has everyone been up to this week?  Pray for anyone we know who isnt well or needs some help

Lesson - use car play mats - there should be three available.

Who knows what this is?  Its called a map - and it is a picture of a place.  This map is of (a town, a farm , whatever it is.).  It shows us where all the different places  are and how we can get to them.  These are the roads.  And we can see the shops and the fire station and the hospital ....... or whatever......- ( spend some time looking at the map).   If we want to go anywhere in the whole world we can look at a map and it will show us how to get there.  It will show us the way. And if we ever get lost and we need to know how to get home a map can help us.

Jesus says He is the Way.  He is a bit like a map. Everywhere we go Jesus is with us and He knows where we are and where we are going and how to get there.   

Does anyone know what this is?  

this is a road sign.  It is a bit like a map because it shows us which way to go.   This sign tells us that we are about to come to a roundabout.  If we go this way ( left) we will end up in these places.  If we go this way( right) we will end up in these places.  The sign helps us to choose which road to take.

Jesus said He was a bit like a road sign.  When we arent sure which way to go He will show us.  Not just when we are going in a car to a new place, but when we need to make good choices.  If we dont know what to do He will show us.   The Bible says that if we need help to be good and kind and say nice things we can stop and listen and Jesus will tell us what to say and what to do and how to behave.  He will say ' dont do this, do that' .   Isnt it good that we dont have to decide for ourselves, but Jesus can help us to go the right way?

Lets sing and tell Jesus that we will follow Him and go wherever He tells us to go.

 Craft.   Make a Jesus road sign using card and a lollipop stick  


Paint one foot of each child and make a footprint picture on an A4 piece of paper pre-printed with the words '  Jesus is the Way. I will walk with Him'
Play time suggestions  -  kids in pairs - blindfold one and let the other lead round the room avoiding obstacles.  

Use the tents and tunnels to make a crawling hiding play place too

Use cars on the play mats so they can pretend play.
