April 16th

 Talk time.  Can anyone remember what we were talking about last week?  Yes, Easter when Jesus died on the cross.  And then He came alive again which was really good news.  Does anyone have any good things that have happened to them this week?  What is the best thing that you did?  Lets thank Jesus for all these good things.   Pray.

Lesson

How do you think Jesus's friends felt when they found out He was alive again?  They were super happy (show me your happy face)  they were really excited ( show me what you do when you are excited).   All Jesus's friends saw Him and talked to Him except for one friend called Thomas.  Thomas was away somewhere when Jesus came back to life and so He didnt get to see Him, He just heard all the other people talking about how they had seen Jesus and that He was not dead any more.  How do you think Thomas felt when he realised Jesus had been to visit everyone and he had missed it?  ( show me your sad face).  It isnt nice when we miss things.   Thats why we have to get ready and put our coats and shoes on when Mummy or Daddy tell us.  If we mess about and take too long we might miss the start of the thing we are going out to do.  Thomas missed seeing Jesus and He was sad and a bit cross.

One day Thomas was with all the other disciples when Jesus suddenly appeared.  He didnt come in through the door He was just there!  In the middle of the room.  It was a miracle.  How do you think the disciples felt?  They were very surprised.  Show me your surprised face.  Jesus went to Thomas and said 'Hey Thomas!  Im really alive.  Do you want to give me a hug just to make sure?'  So Thomas gave Jesus a big hug- and when he hugged Jesus he saw the holes in Jesus's hands and feet where the soldiers had hurt Him when they killed Him.    So Thomas knew that it really was Jesus -how do you think Thomas felt then?

Then Jesus said something really important.  He said 'Thomas you only believed that I was alive again when you saw me and touched me. But lots and lots of people believe in me even though they havent ever seen me'.   Jesus was talking about us!  We believe in Him even though we cant see Him.

Lets do some crafts and colouring about Thomas now,


Make sunglasses with silver foil lenses. Even when we cant see Jesus we can believe in Him

if the silver foil is too fiddly then just get the children to decorate the glasses with stickers and wear them without 'lenses' so they can see through them

1) talk time -  what did we do at Christmas? Presents? People we spent time with? One day some pirates came and stole Patrick away and took him in their boat to ireland where they made him work hard in the fields looking after sheep.  Patrick was sad and lonely. He missed his Mum and Dad and he wanted to go home. He remembered that his Mummy had always told him to pray when he needed help and God would answer his prayers and help him.
